TAPPT, The Association for the Preservation of Peruvian Textiles
is a project of
IAPIC - International Association for the Preservation
of Indigenous Cultures, a non-for-profit organization determined to
preserve the wisdom of the ancients.
Estabilshed only a few years ago we
have had much progress, as we work hands on, by interacting directly with
the people.
Today we stand at a critical moment in world history where the survival
of the planet depends on an urgent shift in the awareness and activities of
modern civilization. Over-consumption and misuse of natural resources
are disrupting the balance between humans and Earth. The current rate
of global exploitation is projected to wipe out all natural resources
within 300 years. We are at a point at which modern civilization needs
desperately to learn how to restore the balance of the planet that supports
it.
IAPIC recognizes the important role that the
wisdom traditions of indigenous
cultures can play in the restoration of a balance on Earth
through their example of harmonious existence with their
environment. While the arrival of modern civilization has contributed
much to the deterioration of global habitats, it has also developed
technology that can be utilized to help restore the natural balance
that it has disturbed.
Our aim is to nurture a symbiotic relationship
between modern technology and native wisdom, as conservation and innovation
must coexist if we are to survive.
The mission of IAPIC is to ensure that the inevitable convergence of indigenous
communities with the modern world is one of mutual benefit.
